Biomuseo

Panama City, Panamá

About

The Biomuseo is Panama's most iconic museum and a stunning architectural landmark designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, his first project in Latin America.

Located at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal, on the Amador Causeway, this vibrant museum celebrates Panama's extraordinary role as a bridge of life that connected two continents and transformed global biodiversity.

The museum's eight permanent exhibition galleries, designed by Bruce Mau, take visitors on an immersive journey through Panama's natural and cultural history, explaining how the formation of the Isthmus of Panama changed the world forever.

Interactive exhibits, three-dimensional displays, and multimedia presentations bring to life the incredible diversity of Panamanian ecosystems, from rainforests to coral reefs. The Biomuseo's striking architecture features eight metal roof structures in vivid red, orange, green, blue, and yellow panels, creating an iconic silhouette against the Panama City skyline.

Open Tuesday through Sunday, the museum also features a botanical garden and spectacular ocean views.

A visit to the Biomuseo is an essential cultural experience for anyone who wants to understand why Panama is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.
